DESCRIPTION:Native American and Indigenous Studies Association's Fifteenth
Annual ConferenceTemuco\, Wallmapu\, ChileJULY 22-24\, 2026Invitation to t
he peoples and nations of the world to a space of listening\, reflection a
nd collective actionFor the first time\, our annual gathering will take pl
ace in Abya Yala\, home to more than 800 Native peoples. Even in the twent
y-first century\, the extractivism and colonial settlements that started w
ith the invasions of the sixteenth century continue to grow in this vast t
erritory. These historical forces have shaped complex territorial\, enviro
nmental\, global and local imbrications of appropriation and dispossession
\, while resistance and re-existence persist. This process has transformed
 the environmental and climate conditions as well as the ways of life of I
ndigenous Peoples. In this context\, and in solidarity with Black and othe
r allied communities\, Indigenous Peoples struggle for land recovery and c
are\, for environmental\, racial\, and gender justice\, and look to incorp
orate the diverse bodies\, identities\, languages\, and cultures that sust
ain peoples and societies. In sum\, it is a struggle for the continuity of
 life.&nbsp\;
