The American Studies Program invites you to join us for a special screening of Molokai Bound as part of our programming for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. In this milestone year, we are highlighting an award-winning film and filmmaker who explores culture, identity, and belonging from the perspective of the 50th annexed state—Hawaiʻi.
Molokai Bound offers a powerful lens into contemporary Hawaiian life, storytelling, and community. Following the screening, we will feature a conversation with the director that reflects on the film’s themes and the broader significance of Hawaiian voices in American cultural narratives.
All are welcome to attend and take part in this evening of film and discussion. Small bites from Mochiko Hawaiian to be served.
